Ashitaka Mountain

This is a ukiyoe by described old-time fifty-three stages on the Tokaido highway by Mr. Hiroshige.

This picture describes Hara where is the 14th stage of the fifty-three stages on the Tokaido highway in the late Edo era (1832). In the composition which is almost equal to the photograph in the top, Mt. Ashitakayama and Mt.Fuji are described. This vicinity was a wet zone of the Ukishima swamp. In the cry of the crane, the spectacle in which the traveler of the female companion was looking back was described.
